Frequently Asked Questions
-
We understand this may need some consideration. Below are some reasons you may choose to replace your automatic door opener instead of repairing it.
If…
· It is more cost effective to replace vs repair
· Replacement parts are no longer manufactured
· The opener is near the end of its lifecycle and repair costs will start accumulating soon
· The opener has completely stopped working
· You are interested in upgrading to advanced technological or safety features
· You have a heavier door installed and need a stronger motor
-
Yes and no. In general, the springs of the door are what do the lifting. If you have a heavier door, you will have stronger or more springs. When the springs are the correct springs, properly balanced, and are in good condition, the automatic door opener will gently assist the door in its raising and lowering. We recommend purchasing at least a ½ HP opener, which is more than enough to lift most doors. If you have an oversized heavy or solid wood door, you may opt for a ¾ HP or a DC motor that is comparable to a ¾ HP.
-
There are many benefits to a garage door opener with a battery backup. If your power goes out and the battery kicks in, rest easy knowing that all your codes to your remotes, keypad, and cars will not be wiped out and need reprogramming. Also, if you arrive home or need to leave when the power is out, the opener will still work!
-
The belt drive will be the quietest opener, with the DC motor with a battery back up being the quietest of the bunch. The chain drive is still an excellent unit, but the belt drive will be quieter.
-
We can! However, we do sell top of the line openers that will most likely be different than openers found at retail stores in terms of quality. We also offer a comprehensive warranty with our new openers that is much longer than if we install a different opener. By the time another opener is purchased and labor to install is paid, the pricing will come out to be pretty close.
-
In most cases, yes! With the feature HomeLink®, you may program your opener directly to the buttons in your car. No more needing to keep track of remote controls! (although you still receive them). As long as your car is a make/model/year that has this feature, our installers can program the buttons upon install.
